An emergency exercise at Cork Airport last week tested preparedness for a major incident. It lasted for about two hours from 7.45 pm to 9.45 pm.
The exercise involved several agencies, including airline personnel, the Irish Aviation Authority, An Garda Síochána, Cork City Fire Brigade, The National Ambulance Service, and the Health Services Executive.
Despite the exercise, there was no impact on the flight schedule, and no exercise activities took place in the terminal building. However, there were emergency service vehicles operating near and at Cork Airport during the exercise.
Overall, the purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the readiness and coordinated response of all involved agencies in case of an emergency at Cork Airport.
