
Central Statistics Office statistics show Cork airport is the fastest growing airport in Ireland for the first nine months of the year, up 11pc on 2023.
The data shows Irish airports handled 12.4m passengers in Q3 2024,, a rise from 11.8m in the same period of 2023, showcasing a growing trend in international travel.
During the first nine months of 2024, a total of 31.8m passengers traveled through the main Irish airports, marking an increase of 1.7m compared to the same timeframe in 2023.
Over 80,000 flights were operated by Ireland’s five primary airports, with Dublin airport handling 84pc of these flights; the most popular routes included London-Heathrow, Amsterdam-Schiphol, and Malaga.
The report also noted an 11pc increase in air freight handled by Irish airports, indicating robust growth in both passenger and cargo traffic, with England and Spain being the top destinations for travelers.
Dublin airport grew to 26.8m passengers in the first nine months of 2024, continuing to lead in traffic volumes among Irish airports.
