CSO aviation stats for 2025 reveal growth above European average

Irish airports have recorded a record number of passengers in 2025 as the total has hit 43.5m. Figures from the Central Statistics Office showed an increase of just over 2.5m passengers or 6pc compared with 2024. Passenger numbers also rose by 4.3m from 2023 levels.  

In 2025, 21.8m passengers departed from Ireland. This total stood 1.3m higher than in 2024 and 2.2m higher than in 2023. More than 1.2m additional passengers arrived in Ireland compared with the previous year. Dublin Airport handled 36.4m passengers while Cork Airport recorded 3.46m, Shannon Airport handled 2.24m, Knock Airport saw 945,862 and Kerry Airport recorded 440,180.

London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol and Manchester ranked as the most popular routes for passengers at Dublin Airport. London Heathrow also led for Cork and Shannon airports while London Luton served as the top route for Knock and Kerry airports. A total of 295,310 flights operated across the five main airports, up 6pc from 2024.  

Damien Lenihan shared “The figures show a significant increase in international travel during 2025. In fact, 2025 was a record year in terms of the number of passengers using Irish airports since the series began in 2013, with 43.5m passengers travelling through at least one of the five main airports in the country.”
