Delta Air Lines selects Amazon Leo ahead of Starlink for onboard wifi

Delta Air Lines has selected Amazon Leo as its satellite Wi-Fi partner and the airline plans installations from 2028. The initial phase covers 500 aircraft with rollout on new narrowbody jets for continental United States routes before expansion to domestic and international flights.

Each aircraft uses a single Leo Ultra phased-array antenna that targets up to 1 Gbps download and 400 Mbps upload speeds. Delta is to continue partnerships with Viasat and Hughes on select widebody and regional jets and has already migrated nearly 600 applications to Amazon Web Services since 2020.

Aer Lingus has already started operating its Starlink service. United Airlines is proceeding with Starlink installation across its 1,100-plane fleet and JetBlue starts Amazon Leo rollout in 2027.
