Delta Airlines has made updates to its SkyMiles loyalty program in response to a backlash against the previously announced changes in September.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian acknowledged the feedback and stated that the changes did not align with customer loyalty to Delta.

The new updates provide additional benefits and modify some of the previously-unpopular changes.

Delta has reduced the Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) required for each tier of Medallion Status, making it more accessible for customers.

  • The updated MQD requirements are: Diamond: $28k, Platinum: $15k, Gold: $10k, and Silver: $5k.
  • Previously Diamond was $35k, Platinum: $18k, Gold: $12k, and Silver: $6k.

Customers with specific Delta American Express cards will receive a head start of $2,500 MQDs for the current Medallion qualification year.

Select cardholders will have increased access to Delta Clubs and the option to purchase access once their allotted entries are exhausted.

Delta is enhancing long-term loyalty program recognition by moving Million Miler Status up in the hierarchy for Complimentary Upgrades and providing enhanced complimentary annual Medallion Status to Million Milers.

For the 2025 Medallion Year, Delta will introduce new Choice Benefits options for Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members, including a MQD Accelerator.
