Protests in San Sebastian, Spain, at the weekend saw demonstrators marched against over tourism in the old city.

San Sebastian was one of the first cities to see such protests, with local residents voicing concerns since 2018 about being displaced to nearby villages due to tourist influx.

Protests began this year in April in the Canary Islands, including a hunger strike in Tenerife aimed at halting major tourism projects.

The movement has spread to other popular tourist destinations in Spain, such as the Balearic Islands, Alicante, and Barcelona, where some protesters have used tactics like water pistols to express their discontent towards tourists.
