The Department of Defence is set to acquire a Falcon 6X jet for approximately €53m, with delivery anticipated in December 2025.
The new aircraft will replace the problematic 30-year-old Learjet, enhancing capabilities in airlift and medical evacuation.
The Falcon 6X will support a variety of missions, including the evacuation of citizens and logistical support for overseas operations.
Operated by the Irish Air Corps from Casement Aerodrome, the jet is expected to be ready for use during Ireland’s EU Presidency in 2026.
