Dept of Tourism seeks new Secretary General as Katherine departs

The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media is currently looking for a new  Ard Rúnaí / Secretary General. This role comes with a salary exceeding €230k per year. The responsibilities of the Secretary General will primarily involve policy, budgetary, and governance matters related to the department.

The department oversees the development and promotion of the tourism sector, Ireland’s cultural heritage, the Irish language, as well as sports, broadcasting, and media. It is also responsible for funding public service broadcasters RTÉ and TG4.

The successful candidate will be expected to advise Minister Catherine Martin and the Ministers of State on policy matters, while also providing strategic leadership for the sectors under the department’s purview. The ideal candidate should possess sound judgement and political awareness in handling financial, policy, and operational issues.

The application deadline for this position is Thursday, November 16. If selected, the new Secretary General will replace the current Secretary General, Katherine Licken, who has held the position since 2017.
