Donegal Camino has announced a brand new itinerary and €165,000 nett fundraising target for Cancer Care West Support Centre Donegal on 2 March 2026.
The 7-day event ran from 30 August to 5 September 2026 with six new walks.
The festival started in Inishowen and finished at Sliabh Liag Cliffs.
Previous fundraising totalled €432,552.82 for the charity since inception.
Registration offered options for 1 to 7 days with a €50 per day fee and €100 per day fundraising requirement.
John Mc Namara shared “I’m honoured to be part of this inspiring walking festival with founders Peggy Stringer, Deirdre Mc Glone, Noel Cunningham and a dynamic and progressive committee who enjoy walking but above all the continued development of a sustainable walking festival which is contributing to both the Donegal tourism sector and to Cancer Care West Support Centre, Donegal. Annually we strive to innovate the Donegal Camino offering while staying true to its personality of friendship and fun and of course increasing our nett target for the vital services of Cancer Care West across Donegal.”
Richard Flaherty shared “The financial support of the Donegal Camino fundraising brings our total counselling hours to over 5,000 hours since we opened in 2017. Importantly the event not only raises vital funds but also greatly increases awareness of the organisation and the free cancer support services available across the region, helping them to reach people who may not otherwise know where to turn.”
