Dubai International airport reported surpassing pre-pandemic levels with 86,994,365 passengers in 2023, marking a 31.7pc increase over 2022 and exceeding the 2019 figure.

The growth was driven by a strong second half of 2023, with 45.4m passengers recorded, and peak months included August with 7.9m passengers and December with 7.8m.

Despite not reaching its previous records, the airport projects 2024 traffic to rise to 88.8m passengers. India was the top destination with around 11.9m travellers, while London, Riyadh, and Mumbai were the top cities in terms of passenger traffic. Emirates noted a surge in bookings to and from the UK, especially to London and Glasgow, for the upcoming year.
