Dublin Airport processed 2.8m passengers in October, up 4pc on 2022. Although October was back to 96.4pc of the level of 2019 the figures indicates overall passenger traffic could reach 34m for the year.

DAA plans are being finalised to apply for permission to grow beyond a current 32m cap on passenger numbers imposed by Bord Pleanála back in 2007.

Transfer and transit passengers in October reached 177k. October saw two big rugby world cup weekends and an increase in families taking autumn trips to sunnier destinations like the Canaries, southern Spain, and Portugal. Busiest day was Sunday, September, October 8 as 38 flights from Paris brought rugby supporters home from watching Ireland defeat Scotland. While the Dublin-Paris route was busy during the month, the most popular destination in October was once again London Heathrow. Carbon per passenger at Dublin Airport was 0.56kg, a reduction of 8pc on 2022.
