The Dublin Airport Authority reported a small decline of 2.5pc in travellers to Ireland for St Patrick’s weekend due to a smaller number of airline slots relating to the passenger cap.

Expected passenger numbers between Wednesday and next Tuesday are around 400,000, down from over 410,000 the previous year

Cheltenham Festival attendance from Dublin Airport also decreased as airlines couldn’t operate as many flights.

Planning applications to increase airport capacity from 32 million to 40 million passengers per annum are currently stalled amid a war of words between the council and daa over the availability of information from the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority
