Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital reports half yearly profits are up 16pc to $275m

Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital reported a 16pc increase in half-year profits, reaching $275m before tax for the period ending September 30, 2024.

The company expanded its owned fleet to 516 aircraft, having taken delivery of $1.7 billion worth of new aircraft during the same period.

SMBC Aviation Capital signed $3.2 billion in long-term lease agreements, including significant contracts for 35 A321NEO aircraft with major North American operators.

The company has raised $3 billion in third-party financing since April 1, 2024, to support its business expansion, with new technology aircraft now making up 70pc of its portfolio.
