Dublin City Council has denied planning permission for a new 100-bedroom Raglan Townhouse hotel on Baggot Street Upper following objections from local stakeholders, including the Dylan Hotel and the Pembroke Road Association.
The Council’s decision cited concerns about the proposed hotel’s height, scale, and massing, stating it would negatively impact the protected structures nearby and the architectural character of the area.
Submissions from local residents and hotel representatives emphasized the adverse effects on light and quality of life for existing properties, alongside fears of increased competition in an already saturated hotel market.
The Council concluded that the hotel proposal contravened policies in the Dublin City Council Development Plan 2022-2028 and warned of setting a precedent for undesirable development in the area.
