Archbishop Dermot Farrell has led the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes alongside 1,500 pilgrims, including 109 sick pilgrims, 14 doctors, 50 nurses, and 600 helpers.

leads the five-day pilgrimage, joined by Bishop Donal Roche for his first Lourdes trip as Auxiliary Bishop. The group includes 250 young helpers, with 150 sixth-year students from 30 Dublin secondary schools.

Pilgrims travel via three chartered aircraft from Dublin Airport, with others arriving via Toulouse, Biarritz, and other routes. The pilgrimage, ongoing since 1949, reflects hope, faith, and charity, inspired by the Gospel story of the wedding at Cana.

Archbishop Dermot Farrell shared: “To come to Lourdes on pilgrimage is an act of hope. To come in pilgrimage is to put flesh on hope. Mary’s confident plea is a reminder to us of the power of intercession, and of its character. The best things in life are not always apparent. What truly matters, what is truly valuable, is not always obvious.”
