Plans for a new walking and cycling bridge along the Tom Clarke (East Link) Bridge in Dublin are progressing, with an expected opening date in 2029.

The project, part of the Active Travel Network plan by Dublin City Council, includes the construction of the Point Bridge, a 150-metre lifting bridge with a cycle path and footpath.

The project will also involve widening the existing bridge and constructing a new bridge control building, with detailed planning and contractor procurement set to begin next year.

The development aims to improve pedestrian, cycling, and motorist access in the area, with upgrades to elements such as barriers, lighting columns, and traffic lights, ensuring safer roads and encouraging more active travel in the region.
