Pilot Paul Elsworth has been suspended after alarms in the cockpit were triggered by an EasyJet flight’s proximity to a mountain on approach to Hurghada.
The Ground Proximity Warning System gave audible warnings during the descent.
Captain Paul Elsworth was suspended following the incident, with another crew assumed control for the return flight.
Passengers were largely unaware of the incident in the flight from Manchester to Hurghada.
