Embraer showcases new enhanced takeoff system for short runways

0

Embraer is introducing the Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System (E2TS) onto its E2 family of passenger jets, allowing for automatic takeoff capabilities which will enhance range capabilities from short runways.

The E2TS software upgrade to the flight control system will rotate the aircraft to its maximum geometrical limits at the same rotation speeds used for manual takeoffs, leading to more precise and consistent rotations and being able to extend the range of the E2 by up to 500 nm from some airports.

The E2TS system will not require additional simulator training for pilots and will work in the scenario of an engine failure. Other improvements to the E2 family include a 2.5pc reduction in fuel burn guaranteed from the second quarter of 2025.

Embraer claims that the changes made to the E2 lead to 4pc lower costs per seat compared to competing aircraft, and the company is in talks with customers for potential orders of up to 300 E2s and more E1s.
