England’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has initiated an eight-week consultation regarding proposed charges for the upcoming year, suggesting a 1.6pc increase in fees, which is below inflation.
The new charges will encompass emerging technologies such as Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (EVTOL) and vertiports, catering to the evolving landscape of the aerospace industry.
Tracey Martin, CAA’s Chief Financial & Operations Officer, emphasized the importance of balancing regulatory obligations with investments in innovation to ensure safety and efficiency in air travel.
The consultation aims to gather industry feedback before finalizing the fee structure, which is projected to amount to approximately 45p per passenger journey for the next year.
