Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad Airways signed a joint business agreement in Addis Ababa on March 19, 2025, enhancing access to each other’s networks across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Ethiopian Airlines will commence direct daily flights to Abu Dhabi International from July 15, 2025, with Etihad launching non-stop flights to Addis Ababa from October 1, 2025.

The Gulf carrier will utilise A320 Family aircraft for its Addis route, while Ethiopian will deploy A350-1000s and B777s.

The collaboration also involves cooperation on frequent flyer programmes, crew training, and cargo operations between the two airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines is planning to expand its reach further, aiming to operate flights to Australia within the next two years and exploring a possible equity stake in South African Airways.
