The European Commission has decided to close interim antitrust proceedings against Lufthansa Group, stating that the legal criteria for reinstating feeder traffic to Condor at Frankfurt International Airport were not met.
This announcement was made on February 27, following a prior formal objection sent to Lufthansa on January 15 regarding competition concerns on transatlantic routes between Frankfurt and New York after changes to special traffic agreements in December 2024.
Lufthansa Group expressed satisfaction with the decision, indicating that Condor may continue to book flights through standard interlining practices as the ongoing investigation into the A++ joint venture with United Airlines and Air Canada continues.
Despite the closure of these proceedings, a Condor spokesperson mentioned the airline’s commitment to pursuing constructive discussions with Lufthansa while adjusting its route network to better cater to passenger needs.
