Online platforms and dynamic pricing encouraged weekend travel when fares dropped or capacity increased.
The COVID-19 pandemic and hybrid work adoption amplified the shift with declined business peaks.
By 2025 Sundays recorded higher traffic than Tuesdays in a more even weekly profile.
Eurocontrol shared in a written statement “By 2025, Sundays were already showing higher traffic levels than Tuesdays, highlighting the continuing shift toward a more balanced weekly demand profile across Europe.”
