European airports almost back to pre-pandemic levels

ACI EUROPE reports an 8.5pc increase in passenger traffic across European airports in April compared to the previous year, with volumes nearly reaching pre-pandemic levels.

Heathrow remains the busiest European airport, with a 4.8pc increase in traffic compared to April 2023 and just 1.4pc down from April 2019.

Istanbul Airport follows in second place, experiencing a 10.5pc rise in passenger traffic from last year and a 22.4pc increase from April 2019.

Major European airports are down just 1.6pc on pre-pandemic levels, while small airports are still facing a 31.5pc decrease from April 2019.
