Fairies, travellers, and ocean workshops, a county by county guide to this evening’s culture night

Cultural events are scheduled for Culture Night across Ireland, including traditional skills demonstrations at Pavee Point in Dublin, a concert by Berlin musician LIE NING, and an exhibition of historical postcards in Kilkenny.

Culture Night Late will feature extended events such as hip hop celebrations in Limerick and a cultural showcase in Listowel; RTÉ will provide live broadcasts from multiple locations, including performances from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and other Irish artists

RTÉ is sharing live coverage of the evening’s events across radio, television, and online, featuring a range of performances from diverse artists and locations.

Some of the events along the way:

Carlow

• Hugsie will perform folk music on the ukulele at St Mary’s Church from 8-9:30 pm, with no booking required.
• Fairgreen Park will host an outdoor screening of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle from 8:15-10:15 pm, suitable for ages 13 and up.
• Tullow Men’s Shed will showcase handmade items from 4-5 pm at The Old Dispensary.

Cavan

• Little Hands – Big Mess at Ballinagh Community Centre offers a sensory experience for toddlers from 4-5 pm.
• The Sound of Art event at Bailieborough Library features live performances from 7 pm to midnight.
• A Sip and Paint session with live traditional music starts at 4 pm at Cavan Arts Office, requiring advance booking.

Clare

• Songs and Stories from the Spa in Clare: A vibrant night at the Pavilion in Lisdoonvarna that combines song, storytelling, dance, and art, featuring performances by storyteller Aindrias De Staic and local singers.
• Chango Flamenco – Jazz Project will showcase a fusion performance at Crusheen Community Hall from 8:30-10:15 pm, without booking required.
• A drumming circle led by Brian Fleming is open for all ages at Drumgeely Plaza from 8:30-9:30 pm, with no booking needed.
• TullaSkies exhibition of astrophotography will be on display from 5-10 pm at the Old Bank of Ireland in Tulla.

Cork

• Cruthú Cois Farraige (Creation by the Sea) at Sirius Arts Centre, Cork: A multifaceted event with workshops and classes, followed by live electronic music and visuals, celebrating creativity by the sea.
• Rock the Block in Passage West, Cork: Enjoy an evening of entertainment featuring music from two local bands, Sonyx (indie/folk) and The Alkove (original rock blues).
• The English Market celebrates Culture Night with tastings and live music from 6-9 pm, featuring local delicacies.
• Mallow Castle will host an outdoor cinema showing Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again with live ABBA music before the film; booking required.
• Collins Barracks Military Museum will open late with a performance by the Band of the No.1 Brigade at 6:15 pm.

Donegal

• The Colmcille Community Choir performs at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny from 8-9:30 pm.
• An Grianán Theatre will host an International Cabaret with various performances from 9-10:30 pm.

• Culture Night on Moore Street, Dublin: An Afro-Brazilian-Irish music and dance collaboration along with a late-night market that celebrates the cultural diversity of Dublin.
• A family-friendly bike disco will take place in Phoenix Park from 7:30-9:30 pm, featuring a bike DJ.
• LIE NING Concert at the Goethe-Institut, Dublin: Experience the Irish premiere of Berlin-based artist LIE NING, who blends indie, soul, and R’n’B in a captivating performance.
• Life on a Camp at Pavee Point, Dublin: Explore the traditional skills of travellers with an outdoor event showcasing camp life, cooking recipes from Traveller women, along with films and music performances.
• Read Mór Book-Gifting Project: The Arts Council collaborates with the Irish Prison Service to gift curated books from Irish authors to all prisons, fostering a love of reading.

• The Killorglin and District Pipe Band will perform around Killarney for Culture Night festivities.
• Theatre of the Hearthstone in Listowel: Inspired by the Irish Rambling House tradition, this gathering encourages community and storytelling in an outdoor cultural extravaganza.
• An Ogham writing workshop with historian Tom O’Sullivan will teach the ancient art and its meanings.

Tipperary

• The County Tipperary Ryan Youth Orchestra will perform a recital of classical and modern pieces at St Ailbe’s School Hall from 8-9 pm, no booking required.
• An Irish-speaking art workshop will take place at Castleiney Parish Hall from 4-5:30pm. To begin, participants will learn some Irish words and sentences about art, before making an “I ♥️ Gaeilge” poster. • Enter the Tipperary Museum free of charge from 4-8pm to view and interact with The Big Dig, a life size excavation of a Viking House. Participants will be offered the opportunity to excavate a recreated Viking House and see first-hand artefacts from the Viking era. There will also be a treasure hunt to take part in, with clues made up of architectural details of buildings. No booking required.
• Traditional Music with a Twist in Thurles, Tipperary: Down Syndrome Tipperary presents a unique performance where traditional Irish music meets popular Abba songs, promising an entertaining evening.

Waterford

• Music Generation at the Theatre Royal, Waterford city. The Theatre Royal will host Music Generation from 5pm to 6.30pm. Nearly 50 young musicians will perform along with Waterford’s Wind Band. There will also be a youth open mic session.
• Late Night Opening at Waterford Gallery of Art. The Waterford Gallery of Art will be open to all from 6pm to 10pm with access to the current exhibition “Muscles and Mind: Irish Art Olympians”.
• ‘Waterford The Musical’, Waterford Cultural Quarter Stage. Over 200 performers from various musical societies and theatre groups will take to the stage to celebrate all things musical.

Westmeath

• Myths and Monstrosities at Luan Gallery. Visit Luan Gallery in Athlone to create your own monster or mythical creature figurine. Crafting will be inspired by Kevin Mooney’s exhibition Tuberclerosies. The event will run from 5.30pm to 8pm and under-18s must be accompanied by a guardian.
• Folk Lure at Moate Library, Moate Library will host local musicians Folk Lure, performing trad music from 6pm to 7pm.
• Women and Whiskey at Kilbeggan Distillery. Kilbeggan Distillery will host a talk on women’s past and present contribution to the local community and to the distillery. This will be presented by a local historian and samples of whiskey and refreshments will be available. The event will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Wexford

• Draw & Paint at The Hope Centre, Enniscorthy. The Hope Centre art teachers Lisa Rossiter and Kate Whitty will assist participants through an artistic evening of creativity from 6pm to 8pm.
• Reflections, Wexford Arts Centre. The arts centre will present a combination of live animation, projections, music and poetry for attendees from 9pm to 10.30pm.
• Screening of ‘Song of the Sea’, Gorey Cinema. Seal Rescue Ireland will host a screening of the animated film Song of the Sea, from 6pm to 8pm. First, Seal Rescue Ireland will talk attendees through the work it does and then the 94-minute movie will be shown. Booking required at education@sealrescueireland.org.

Wicklow

• Colour Culture at The Colour Club. The Colour Club, Arklow, will host a workshop for the four to 10 age group and the 14+ age group. Culture Kaleidoscope, for the younger group, will explore designs from across the world from 5pm to 6pm. The older group will customise clothes with colour from 6pm to 7pm. Acrylic paints will be used and an item of clothing must be brought along, such as denim jeans, skirts, heavy-weight cotton clothes, jackets. Booking required at culturenight.ie
• A Little Bit of Everything Irish at Carnew Library. The students of Coláiste Bhríde Carnew will host an evening of poetry, music, storytelling as Gaeilge along with Irish dancing. Refreshments will be available at the event, which will run from 7pm to 8pm.
