Clare County Council, in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport, has released the final design update for the N19 Shannon Airport Access Road Improvement Scheme.

The update includes active travel measures for walking and cycling, enhanced public transport facilities, and new road infrastructure from Drumgeely roundabout to Knockbeagh Point roundabout near Shannon International Airport.

The final design follows stakeholder engagement and consideration of environmental, transport, and ground surveys, aiming to improve public transport efficiency and accommodate an enhanced bus service.

Clare County Council said it aims to deliver a sustainable transport solution that enhances connectivity for Shannon Airport, the Shannon Free Zone, and the wider mid-west region, promoting economic growth and prioritising road safety and the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and vulnerable road users.
