Fingal County Council unanimously approved the extension of the Dublin Airport Local Area Plan to 2030.
The plan aims to facilitate operational improvements and enhancements needed for a projected capacity of 40 million passengers annually.
A dispute over the next step has stalled the 40 million passenger application, with Fingal council saying daa has delayed supplying the necessary data from the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority and daa saying they are awaiting a Bord Pleanala ruling which would release the data.
The Planning Authority is currently assessing a separate application for 36 million capacity, with the council claiming that daa did not engage in pre-planning discussions, and the daa saying proposals at previous pre-planning discussions were ignored by the council.
Noise impact assessments are mandated for proposed increases in capacity at Dublin Airport, following the guidelines established in the 2019 Act.
