Fingal County Council has approved Ryanair’s €40m plan to construct a four-bay aircraft maintenance hangar at Dublin Airport. This development is expected to create over 200 jobs for engineers and mechanics.

The proposed hangar, called Hangar 7, will be located north of Hangar 6 and south of Gatepost 1B on airport grounds. It will support the heavy and line maintenance of Ryanair’s expanding fleet, which is projected to reach 600 aircraft.

The Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) called for the refusal of planning permission for the hangar, but the council granted permission anyway. Planning consultants for Ryanair emphasized that the facility will only service Ryanair’s existing scheduled passenger flights and won’t increase the airline’s use of Dublin Airport.

The council clarified that the construction of Hangar 7 will not significantly impact the airport complex or its surrounding area. They have stipulated that the proposed hangar cannot proceed until planning permission is granted for the North Apron extension, which provides access to Hangar 7.
