Qantas’ first Airbus A321XLR aircraft, named ‘Great Ocean Road,’ will be delivered in April next year, marking the beginning of its fleet renewal program with 28 A321XLRs to replace Boeing 737s.
The A321XLR will feature 20 business class seats and 177 economy seats, offering a 13pc increase in capacity and a 66pc increase in premium seats, along with free wifi and larger overhead bins.
Initially operating on domestic routes, the A321XLR’s extended range will allow Qantas to explore more non-stop routes, including destinations in South East Asia and the Pacific Islands.
Qantas’ domestic fleet renewal program, the largest in its history, is expected to bring significant customer improvements and career opportunities, including training over 240 pilots on the new aircraft.
