Five Irish resorts in Condé Nast top twenty led by Ashford Castle

Five Irish resorts have been ranked among the Condé Nast top 20 in Europe in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2026. 

The European resort landscape saw a dominant performance by historic Irish properties. Ashford Castle emerged as the highest-ranked Irish resort in Europe, leading a strong cohort of iconic properties that made the elite top 20 list, Dromoland Castle in Co Clare was eighth, Adare Manor in Co Limerick ninth, Kilkea Castle Hotel in Co Kildare 12th and Sheen Falls Lodge in Co Kerry 13th.

On the global hotel front, top-tier legacy properties like the newly revamped Island Shangri-La in Hong Kongwere highly celebrated for successfully blending old-world luxury with modern family-focused innovations.

The awards drew almost 800,000 responses. Separately, three of these properties featured in Europe’s top 10 resorts according to the same readers.
