France has retained its position as the world’s most visited destination according to figures released by the United Nations, hosting 100m international tourists in 2023, followed by Spain (85m), the USA (66m), Italy (57m) and Türkiye (55m).

The top 10 most-visited destinations also include Mexico, England, Germany, Greece, and Austria.

In terms of international tourism receipts, the United States leads with €176bn, followed by Spain (€92bn), England (€74bn), France (€69bn) and Italy (€56bn).

China regained its position as the top spender on international tourism in 2023.
