Flight operations resumed at Frankfurt Airport around 8am yesterday, after 140 flights were cancelled, one-tenth of the scheduled flights for the day, when climate activists glued themselves to the tarmac, leading to temporary suspension of flights. Two Dublin flights were cancelled.

Similar protests occurred at airports in Cologne-Bonn, Barcelona, Helsinki, and Oslo the previous day as part of the ‘Oil Kills’ campaign demanding the phasing out of fossil fuels by 2030.

Federal police reported that several demonstrators breached the airport perimeter fence and approached runways at Frankfurt Airport

Climate activist group Last Generation stated that six protesters accessed the airport’s runways on foot, bicycle, and skateboard
