Eurocontrol’s latest update shows air traffic in Europe continues to grow, but last week’s air traffic control (ATC) industrial action from 2 to 5 July 2025 led to significant disruptions.

French ATC industrial action resulted in 330,000 minutes of direct air traffic flow management delays and 43,000 minutes of indirect delays.

There were 3,343 fewer flights to and from French airports compared to the previous week, all cancelled due to the industrial action.

Week 27 recorded an average of 34,860 daily flights, reflecting a 0.1pc increase from the previous week and a 1pc rise from the same week in 2024.

Delays during Week 26 were primarily generated by France at 50pc, followed by Spain and Germany each contributing 10pc due to capacity issues and high traffic demand.
