A further 4,295 flights were cancelled globally on July 19 due to the CrowdStrike IT outage.

Additionally, 104,000 flights were delayed, affecting almost 4%pc of all scheduled services.

It was the busiest day in five years at Dublin airport with over 120,000 passengers passing through the airport.

The CEO of CrowdStrike confirmed that the issue was due to a “defect” in a content update for Windows, ruling out a cyberattack or malicious event.

Ryanair online services were restored to normal late on Saturday. Customers were able to check in but were unable to book flights off the app or website until late Saturday evening
