The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will be hosted in Belfast from 2-9 August 2026, with a special ‘Fleadh harp’ handed over to the Lord Mayor Tracy Kelly to mark the countdown.
The harp, made from ancient bog yew, symbolises the start of Belfast’s preparations for the festival, which is expected to feature over 400 events.
The partnership between Belfast City Council and Comhaltas aims to enhance tourism and draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city.
Niall McClean, Chairperson of Ards CCÉ, expressed gratitude to Wexford for their hosting and highlighted the cultural significance of the harp gift.

Tracy Kelly shared, “Belfast is delighted to take up the baton and really ramp up our preparations for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026 – let the countdown begin.”
Niall McClean shared, “The experience of musicians and visitors here in Wexford gives an insight into the fun and joy that can be expected in Belfast next year.”
Labhrás Ó Murchú shared, “The gift of the Fleadh harp represents not only the passing of the torch to our next host city, but also a shared cultural legacy.”
