The new owner of AGS Airports, AviAlliance, plans to invest £350m over the next five years in infrastructure and terminal upgrades across Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton airports.
AviAlliance completed a £1.53bn acquisition of AGS Airports in January, with a focus on transforming Glasgow’s main terminal building and enhancing energy efficiency.
Southampton Airport has recently extended its runway by 164 metres in 2023 and will undergo further terminal redevelopment works.
Despite a 9.6pc increase in passenger traffic in the previous year, Glasgow Airport remains behind Edinburgh, with its figures significantly lower than its record year of 2017.
Kam Jandu, chief executive of AGS Airports, shared that the investment aims to strengthen connectivity and support trade, tourism, and employment across Scotland.
Kam Jandu, chief executive of AGS Airports, shared: “AGS plays a critical role in driving economic and social prosperity across Scotland. We have ambitious plans for the long-term, sustainable growth of our airports including the strengthening of our connectivity which underpins the success of the regions we serve.
“This significant investment will not only enhance the fabric of our airports, it will enhance the role they currently play in facilitating trade and tourism, and, importantly in generating meaningful employment across the country.”
