Ireland’s Government hired a private jet for Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s trip across Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro due to the existing government Learjet’s unreliability.
Varadkar acknowledged the expense of the private jet hire but did not specify the cost, emphasising the necessity of private hire for efficiency.
The government is in the process of tendering for a new jet capable of long-haul travel, intended not only for ministerial use but also for air ambulance services, citizen evacuations, and supporting the Defence Forces.
