Grace Hotel in Westport secures alcohol licence in advance of opening

The Grace Hotel in Westport has secured an alcohol licence from Castlebar Circuit Court ahead of its reopening in spring as it targets five-star status. \

The property formerly known as Hotel Westport underwent extensive renovations including partial demolition and redevelopment into a 129-bedroom hotel. No objections arose from the State, gardaí, or public during the hearing on 17 February 2026.

The hotel registered for five-star classification which would make it the second such property in County Mayo alongside Ashford Castle. It will employ over 140 staff mostly local or returning to the area. The name draws from Grace O’Malley and Grace Kelly with ties to west Mayo.
