Joe O’Brien, Green Party TD and Minister of State for Community Development, lodged a formal objection to the expansion plan of Dublin Airport.
His objection is one of 380 submissions received by Fingal Council before the deadline closed on January 29. Mr O’Brien’s objection cites increased noise exposure and greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the airport expansion.
Green Party MEP Ciarán Cuffe also expressed concerns about the increase in greenhouse gases and criticised the approval. “It is a 24pc increase during a time of crisis. We can’t say that farmers need to play their part, those who drive to work need to play their part, if we’re giving the airport a free ride.” Brian Leddin Green Party TD for Limerick and Darren O’Rourke Sinn Féin TD for Meath are also objecting to growth at the airport.
