Heathrow Airport plans to invest £2.3bn to enhance services and infrastructure in response to increased passenger demand following the Covid pandemic.

The investment aims to improve baggage handling and ensure timely departures and arrivals amid operational challenges faced by the airport.

The airport reported serving a record 39.8m passengers in the first half of 2024, more than doubling its passenger numbers compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Despite a revenue decline related to reduced charges, net profit after tax has increased by nearly 8pc, highlighting a recovery in the airport’s financial performance.
