Heathrow and Edinburgh Airports have both announced increases to their drop-off charges from £5 to £6. Heathrow raised its fee to £6 from January 1 and Edinburgh will implement the same increase from January 13.
Edinburgh Airport cited its goal of making drop-off fees competitive with public transport, highlighting that 37pc of passengers currently use such modes of transportation.
Local residents and electric car users will continue to receive a 50pc discount for the first ten minutes, while alternative free drop-off areas are available in Long Stay Car Parks.
As Edinburgh prepares for increased passenger demand, significant investments are being made in airport infrastructure, including improvements to transport links and a £5.8m refit of the check-in hall led by VINCI Airports.
