Heathrow has submitted plans for a third runway, aiming for completion within a decade if approved.
The project is estimated to cost £49 billion and would be funded privately, covering new runway and terminal construction. Flight paths are designed to avoid densely populated areas, providing a better solution for local communities.
The expansion could increase capacity to 756,000 flights and attract 150 million passengers annually.
The proposal follows Heathrow’s intention to recover its status as the busiest European airport after losing it to Istanbul Airport.
Thomas Woldbye shared, “It has never been more important or urgent to expand Heathrow. We are effectively operating at capacity to the detriment of trade and connectivity.”
