Air passengers on Etihad airways flight EY45 from Abu Dhabi to Dublin on Saturday are being advised by the HSE that they shared a flight with a person diagnosed with measles.

Passengers who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or under 12-months-old on the flight are advised to contact the HSE immediately. People born before 1978 are likely to have been exposed to measles as children and unlikely to require vacines.

This is the third confirmed case of measles in Ireland this year, with the infected person being on the flight with hundreds of other passengers.

Passengers are advised to be aware of measles symptoms until 30 March 2024 and seek healthcare advice if necessary. Vaccinations can be arranged with a GP to protect against measles. Further information about measles is available at: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/measles/
