The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting specialist paramedics to be permanently deployed at Ireland’s two air ambulance bases operated by the Air Corps in Athlone and the other managed by Gulf Med Aviation Services in North Cork.
The air ambulance service in Ireland is known as the Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS).
The Irish Community Air Ambulance (ICAA) was replaced by the Emergency Aeromedical Service.
The ICAA, now known as Critical, focuses on providing a network of volunteer Emergency Medical Responders in partnership with the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
The plan is to make the temporary medics working on the helicopter service permanent air ambulance operators. There is an ongoing recruitment campaign for this purpose.
