The Irish Aviation Authority has increased fees for two classes of flight instructors by more than 200pc in the latest round of license fees.
Previous updates to IAA Fees occurred in 2011 and 2015, which bthe new website Floying in Ireland says resulted in increases far exceeding cumulative CPI inflation rates
They say the split of the Irish Aviation Authority into two separate organisations in 2023 has led to the Minister of Transport being the main beneficiary, without providing funding to the Regulator as before
Flying in Ireland also says the updated Schedule of Charges for Pilot Licensing contains significant mistakes and does not reference EASA qualifications, impacting General Aviation with triple-digit percentage increases
They say the disproportionate impact on General Aviation due to increased fees is likely to affect safety in the industry.
