The avios.com website, used by Aer Lingus loyalty customers, is closing and reward seat bookings will be available instead at aerlingus.com.
Booking Avios redemptions through the Aer Lingus AerClub account had previously proven complex for customers due to IT limitations.
Avios can be used for a discount on any Aer Lingus cash flight at aerlingus.com. ‘Standard’ redemptions need to be booked at avios.com, but this seems to be changing.
Customers are being told: The way you book Reward Flights for AerClub is being improved, enabling you to book Reward Flights through AerLingus.com instead of Avios.com. These changes will happen shortly.
Unlike ba.com, customers can pay 100pc of the cost with Avios – including taxes and charges.
Aer Lingus reward tickets issued by British Airways will be eliminated. Aer Lingus reward tickets are currently issued by British Airways (with ticket numbers starting 125-) which means they could not be managed online.
Customers get an error message saying: “you cannot use Avios to book Aer Lingus reward flights at avios.com at present.” The ability to credit direct to AerClub has been removed when booking Vueling flights although IBplus and AerClub are still available.
