India’s fast growing IndiGo Airlines has provided further details on the effects of the Pratt & Whitney powder metal issue on its fleet. They expect to have around 35 aircraft grounded during the first quarter of 2024. This will be in addition to the current number of grounded aircraft.

The airline operates 178 A320-200Ns and 94 A321-200NX aircraft, with 34 A320-200Ns and 11 A321-200NX currently out of service for various reasons.

IndiGo is working closely with Pratt & Whitney to obtain more information and address the situation. They are also implementing measures to minimize the impact of these groundings on their capacity in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24 and beyond. The airline remains confident in meeting its long-term capacity guidance.
