Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands in Galway, has been named the seventh most underrated island in Europe by Big Seven Travel.
The island was described as a rocky isle with a rich history and archaeological marvels, such as Dún Aonghasa, a Bronze Age structure atop a cliff, and the Wormhole, a mysterious hole above the Atlantic Ocean.
Big Seven Travel ranked the islands based on criteria including Tourist Footfall, Local Charm, Natural Beauty, Cultural Significance, Accessibility, Activities and Attractions, and Local Community.
Inis Mór stood out for its lower tourist numbers, authentic local character, stunning landscapes, historical and cultural significance, accessibility, diverse activities, and strong sense of community and sustainable tourism practices.
