Ireland is now the third most important inbound market the Algarve after the year 2024 saw record growth in travel from Ireland to Portugal, with an 8.6pc rise in revenue and a 6.3pc increase in visits.

The Azores, Alentejo, and Porto and North benefitted from double-digit growth in visitor numbers and bednights.

Lisbon Airport faced problems due to air capacity limitations despite overall travel growth and has led to figures for the region remaining flat.

Algarve retained its position as the leading region for Irish visitors, while Madeira demonstrated resilience despite reduced flight capacity, with plans for increased flights in 2025.
