Ireland placed 24th in World Economic Forum Travel and Tourism Index

0

Ireland is listed in 24th place in the World Economic Forum Travel and Tourism Index. The index  reports that high-income economies, led by the United States, Spain, and Japan, lead the global travel and tourism sector, with Europe and Asia-Pacific topping the rankings.

Despite the global tourism industry’s recovery to pre-pandemic levels, challenges persist, including regional disparities in recovery and marginal overall score improvements since 2021.

Developing economies have shown significant progress, with 52 out of 71 improving since 2019, yet substantial investment is required to bridge gaps in enabling conditions and market share.

The sector still faces external challenges like macroeconomic and geopolitical risks, sustainability scrutiny, labor shortages, and supply-demand imbalances exacerbated by inflation.
