“Food, Feasts and Footmen” exhibition opens at Strokestown Park House’s last preserved 18th-century gallery kitchen, offering insight into servant life and kitchen workspaces.
The exhibition reveals the contrasting lives of servants and gentry in the 18th century, utilising narratives from Olive Pakenham Mahon’s records and National Library of Ireland research.
Designed by architect Richard Castle, the kitchen features preserved 18th-20th century equipment, and notable historian Regina Sexton contributed to the research.
Managed by the Irish Heritage Trust and supported by the Regional Exhibition Scheme and Westward Holdings, the exhibition aligns with the National Famine Walk, emphasizing historical perspectives and servant contributions.
